Center of my city
Bringing together two important cities in my life
Paris Dreams
Inspired by Taylor Swift's album "Midnights"
"Open Door" + "Open Window" (2022)
I spent three weeks in Italy between May and June for a cross-cultural course. These two collages aim to juxtapose hints of everyday Italian life and architecture with a dreamlike quality that permeated my trip--ideas that everything I was experiencing was so surreal. These collages incorporate my photography from the trip and my written reflections.
Conversation with a Tree
This is a collage I created for a Theology class. My professor offered us the opportunity to hold a conversation with a tree and write a one-page reflection on the experience to receive extra credit. As a separate assignment for the class, I needed to create a piece of artwork that related to a theological topic, so I created this collage to represent my experience. It's neat how spending time in nature inevitably points me back to God!
Unto you a son is born
This design is loosely based on Isaiah 9:6. I wanted to create a Christmas Eve design to reflect humble beginnings along with a sense of wonder.
"Rhetoric of the Civil rights Movement"
These are two design options for a poster promoting a communications course taught at Messiah University.
"End of an Era," digital collage
“End of an Era” incorporates various photographic layers of the sky and cloud formations as well as blurred text from letters I received at the end of my junior year. I chose a soft, sentimental color palette with striking highlights to mimic the range of bittersweet emotions I grappled with as I left my roommates and apartment. The themes and design of this collage were inspired in part by the song "Guys" by The 1975.

"Kindness in the Rain," selected spread
“Kindness in the Rain” is a two-ink fable zine that I authored and illustrated. The fable follows Mr. Umb (an umbrella) and his friend Hope on their journey to solve his rainy problem.
"The New Blueprint" feature illustration
I created this feature illustration for the article, “The New Blueprint,” which details the advancement of design thinking, a new method for solving modern problems in creative ways. I wanted this design to reflect all of the aspects of design thinking: empathizing with others, defining the problem, brainstorming ideas, prototyping, and testing potential solutions. This illustration is a collage of photography (notice the protractor, lightbulb, and tape?) and digital elements.
"Tired of the Pandemic? Wear a Mask. It's Not Political." editorial design
“It’s Getting Harder to Talk About God" feature illustration
I created this spot illustration for an article titled “It’s Getting Harder to Talk About God,” which detailed the complications of sharing one’s faith in a modern context. In this illustration, I wanted to give the world a threatening, punk rock vibe in comparison to the simple, clean look of the Christian speech bubble.
"Maplewood Mill" milk carton design
This project involved product design and marketing for an imaginary upscale milk brand named “Maplewood Mill.” I designed cartons for four varieties of milk: whole, skim, almond, and chocolate.
"COVID Trees"
Since my college experience was impacted by COVID and the transfer to online learning, I wanted to create images that referenced the circumstances. First, I took photos of wooded areas where I often took walks during quarantine. Next, I abstracted the photos using the content-aware tool in Adobe Photoshop. Once I felt satisfied with the abstractions, I printed out each one and spread diluted bleach across portions of each design to serve as a symbol of the nationwide push for cleanliness. The bleach created an ominous green hue. Lastly, I scanned the designs back into Photoshop and made final edits.
"Typographic Abstraction"
These three sets depict an abstraction of various fonts, using one, two, or three letters or numbers, respectively.
"Given Elements" digital Collage
Excerpts from "The Tale of Despereaux" by Kate DiCamillo typographic design
"He Rested"
When the Pulse, Messiah University's Media Hub, announced it was holding a campus-wide design contest and the winning design would be printed on buttons, I knew I had to submit an entry. However, I never guessed that my design would receive the most votes and win! The theme for each entry needed to relate to the word “completion.” I based my design off the number 7, which in many Biblical circumstances refers to the concept of completion. The title “He Rested” alludes to the story of Creation.
